Spain kicked off their UEFA Euro 2024 campaign with a comfortable 1-0 victory over Albania in Dusseldorf on Monday. The result sees La Roja finish top of Group B with a perfect record of three wins from three matches.
Albania started brightly but rarely threatened the Spanish goal. Spain took control of the game and Ferran Torres' first-half strike proved to be the difference. The Manchester City forward fired home from close range after good work from Dani Olmo.
Albania improved slightly in the second half but still failed to create any clear-cut chances. Spain were content to sit back and protect their lead, seeing out the game with relative ease.
Spain's victory sends them into the knockout stages with confidence, while Albania's tournament is over. The Eagles will be disappointed with their performance, but they can take some solace from the fact that they were playing against one of the best teams in Europe.
